| Details: | Richard called to confirm that his approach to activating Well #1 (emergency well) is correct. After discussing the next steps, Richard plans to shock chlorinate, flush, and test the well for nitrates and coliforms. It was discussed that if the emergency well is used without completing these steps, a precautionary boil water notice should be issued and a special sample should be submitted for coliform testing. Richard is also considering changing the status of this well to seasonal and requested additional information. We have mailed him OHA's seasonal well checklist, along with start-up and shut-down tips. UPDATE 9/3/2024: Richard completed the seasonal start-up form and mailed it today. I reached out to compliance and sent them the information to transition Well #1 to a seasonal. We discussed the importance of following the seasonal well start-up procedures each season. |
