Assistance Type: | OTHER REGULATORY - Deactivate the Oregon Institute of Technology as a PWS | ||
Details: | The Oregon Institute of Technology has disconnected their wells and is now served by the Klamath Falls Water Department, which was previously their emergency source (SRC-CA). The reason the system disconnected their wells is that an OSHA inspection cited the school for providing non-potable water at locations (sinks, showers and eye wash stations) served by untreated, arsenic contaminated, well water. According to the water system, OSHA does not allow businesses to serve water that is considered non-potable (i.e., water that exceeds the MCL for a contaminate). Deactivation of the system also resolves the significant deficiency for bypass at their Point-of-Entry treatment systems. |
