| Details: | Met Calla in field to look at well, new taps installed and sampling technique. Well is out in field and housing over it has been attacked by mice. Seal integrity was good. Housing needs to be cleaned out and repaired to prevent pest entry. I have some question about the integrity of the riser that provides entry into the under ground reservoir. Several places from the exterior appear to have deteriorated caulking - however, maintenance believes the seal on the inside has been re-caulked recently with tank cleaning. Also we have no idea of the condition of the seal between the riser and the top of the tank, because it is under soil. Advise to remove soil from the top of the tank. Coliform issue - Calla was taking 3 repeats and a source sample at the time of my visit. I advised on her technique completely remove the bottle from all packing prior to opening it and do not flush tap, then turn it off and on again prior to taking sample. Both these actions could be a means of contamination. There is no tap but one to take all threes repeat samples from. Source tap is at the well prior to small pressure device. |
