Details: Upon notice of an Administrative Order for this water system, I called system operator Justin McMullen to discuss current violations. Justin says:
* Deer Island Water Works' Corrosion Control treatment system (pH adjustment/caustic soda) had failed months ago due to its port being plugged with caustic soda, but he has since repaired it.
This corrosion control treatment system has been operating for approximately 4 months now, since late Spring according to McMullen, who added that this corrosion control system has been added to a routine maintenance schedule to prevent future treatment failures.
* Water Quality Parameters (WQPs) i.e. pH recordings (required every 14 days) were not received by DWS since August 2023. Justin says pH readings have been documented, they just have not been submitted to Oregon DWS. Justin says he will submit the pH readings (WQPs) to DWS and to CCPH.
* A company recently worked with the system according to Justin, who believes they helped him put together the Consumer Confidence Report.
* From the previous Water System Survey, the former pressure tank to be used as a burn barrel has been removed over 50+ feet from the well over 6 months ago according to Justin.
