| Details: | Consulted with Brad Daniels of our enforcement unit as to whether we could close the current DBP compliance schedule in light of the recent low DBP results (Feb 2018). Based on the changes they had made since the previous results (Nov 2017), we decided to close the schedule. They will remain on quarterly monitoring unless they meet schedule reduction criteria. Here the changes made this winter: 1) Added a 2nd chlorinator after filtration, so they can lower the dose of pre-chlorination. 2) Changed the setting on the storage tank to maintain a lower water level during the winter months – therefore, less residence time in the tank before use. 3) In addition, though it did not alone lower the results throughout 2017, they installed a UV unit early in 2017. The UV contributes to disinfection treatment and means they do not need to maintain as high a chlorine residual level, which theoretically should have helped with DBPs. | ||
