Details: | Together with DWS enforcement coordinator, Brad Daniels, I participated in a conference call with Forest Service staff Janeen, Denise Hilkey - facilities contact, and Bob Smith-engineer, to discuss the status of resolving water quality violation at the Cloud Cap / Cooper Spur Campground/Cloud Cap Inn. Specifically, the water system has been on a boil water notice due to spring modifications which are capturing unfiltered surface water, since the fall of 2017. USFS noted that any proposal and schedule to improve the condition of the spring source and restore potable drinking water would need to receive proper funding, which is being pursued currently. The group discussed that any major modifications to the water system would require DWS plan review approval prior to construction. Both DWS and the USFS understand the need to formalize a written compliance schedule of tasks and dates to restore potable water service to the facility. Brad will develop a rough draft of a bilateral compliance agreement to this effect, for the group to review, in the next couple of weeks. The campground is currently closed, with the only access being on foot to the Cloud Cap Inn with the access road under snow. Boil water notices are posted at the Inn. | ||
