| Details: | Phone call with Chris regarding improvements to spring scheduled for early summer. He plans to remove dirt on top of spring box (300 gallon perforated tank) so that lid is accessible and create an elevated mound and diversion ditches so that surface water runs off and does not pool above spring box/tank. Before construction takes place, and when weather conditions allow, he will take pictures and videos of the site. UPDATE: 5/16/25: Phone call with Chris to get a status update; no work yet on the spring area. He stated they are having a meeting with all the water users in June to talk about options of setting chlorination and filtration or contracting with a consultant to work on the spring to exclude ground water. Baxter Call, Engineer with OHA DWS has a survey with a PWS nearby this summer and we plan to meet with Chris to take a look at the spring. I also gave Chris RCAC's contact information for technical assistance as they have already worked with the DWS circuit rider regarding the condition of spring source. UPDATE 5/30/25: Email from Chris; he contacted RCAC for technical assistance and funding for surface water treatment. He will be having a water board meeting in early June to discuss options. UPDATE 9/4/25: Text from Chris; contractor made on-site visit and is waiting for estimate to rehab spring. UPDATE 10/1/25: Text from Chris, contractor needed more info to finish estimate, should hopefully have estimate in a week or 2. |
