Details: | I was alerted to an arsenic exceedance test result (0.0134 mg/l). The operator emailed me asking if they could suspend hauling water since the new treatment system would be installed soon. I reminded the operator that OHA requested that they don't use the new well to fill the storage tanks until the new treatment system receives final plan approval and is installed according to the approved construction standards. I told the operator to keep the public notice posted, to update it every quarter, and redistribute it until the RAA is below the MCL. I told them that they would need to distribute a public notice to residents informing them if they return to using their well water solely. I spoke with the contractor who will be installing the new treatment system. Coagulation filtration will be installed instead of the original adsorbent media treatment. He says that the current treatment system has ,effectively , reached its expiration date. The contractor says that he submitted the construction plans to the OHA plan reviewer, that they won't be able to install until final plan approval is obtained because the owner can't get the SDWRLF funding until they receive final plan approval but that they would be able to install the treatment system once funding is approved within a week and a half. I informed the property owner that if only well water was supplied to the water system that it would be , by way of explanation, be untreated water. | ||
