||
Details: | PFAS sampling conducted as part of the fifth round of the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR5) showed PFOS at 9.4 ppt, PFOA at 4.1 ppt, and PFBS at 3.8 ppt at entry point B (EP-B) for Chase Wells for a sample collected on 1/13/25. Lithium was also detected at 9.3 ug/L at EP-A for I-5 wells. These results exceed the PFOS and PFOA MCLs, however compliance will be based on a running annual average (RAA). If compliance monitoring beginning April 2027 shows the RAA exceeds the MCLs, the system will need to take corrective action to comply with the MCLs by April 2029. A letter was mailed and emailed to the water system on 4/7/25 which included information on how the results compare to the new PFAS MCLs, requirements to notify customers of availability of UCMR5 results and report detections in the annual consumer confidence report, and information on lithium and Emerging Contaminant funding available to address PFAS. Rainbow WD has proactively monitored for PFAS prior to UCMR5 and is currently engaged with the EC funding process to address PFAS. Update 8/7/25: a second UCMR5 sample collected 4/14/25 at entry point B (EP-B) for Chase Wells showed PFOS at 8.1 ppt and PFOA at 4.2 ppt. |
