Details: | CCPH received a complaint that the water system had a loss of water. Spoke with the water operator about the recent water loss, and it was because the pump had tripped the circuit breaker. They had Justin McMullen come out to fix it, and the water is back up and running. They’re also planning to have him come out again next week to install a new pump and replace the current one. I checked the notices on Water Data Online and saw they had sent out boil notices on March 13 and June 2 of this year. When I asked about them, this is what they said: March 13: The issue was a main line break (next to the reservoir), and it was because the pipes were over 70 years old. June 2: A couple of kids broke the water meter while playing with their cat. Had to shut off the system to fix the meter. On the complaint, one of the tenants mentioned that they had over 20 boil notices since January. When asked about it, the operator said that number is way off - claimed it’s been much less. The operator thinks that because the pipes and system are so old, breaks are more prone to occur. If a pump goes down at a unit, they would need to shut off the water for the whole system to fix it. I suggested they reach out to the Circuit Rider Program for support and guidance on how to reduce the water loss incidents. The contact info for the program was sent to the operator. |
