| Details: | Operator notified DWS on 7/16 that there was a power failure at the water treatment plant at Geren Island which caused the main chlorinator and #1 backup to fail for 17 minutes. The #2 backup chlorinator is working. Since the first backup failed there was 17 minutes where non-chlorinated water entered the line going into Franzen reservoir. Valve configurations were changed so that the non-chlorinated water did not directly enter the distribution system and go to customers. The non-chlorinated water is being mixed with chlorinated water in Franzen reservoir and the operator sealed off part of the reservoir to allow for more mixing between chlorinated and non-chlorinated water before being sent off to customers. The operator will monitor the entry point chlorine levels at Franzen reservoir and will monitoring chlorine residuals at the actual 1st user (Turner Connection). Additional coliform sampling will be done as well. | ||
