Details: | The operator confirmed that Well #2 (Lower) has been disconnected. As a result, the well has been inactivated and designated as an emergency source in OHA’s records. Monitoring and chemical sampling requirements for this source have been closed until the well is reactivated.. The nitrate advisory related to lower well #2 is not applicable at this time. We recommended that a visible sign or tag at the well noting that future reactivation will require notification to OHA and NCPHD, as well as completion of startup procedures, including sampling, before the well can be returned to service. On July 24th, the operator confirmed that a post-fire nitrate sample was collected at well #1 (Upper). As of July 29th, final lab results remain pending. OHA recommended waiting to lift the post-fire Do Not Drink advisory until VOC resample results from sample site #2 and the mainline sample are received, to better assess any remaining water quality concerns. |
