Details: | PFAS sampling conducted as part of the fifth round of the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR5) showed PFOS at 7 ppt and PFHxS at 3.2 ppt at entry point B (EP-B) for Wells #3, #5 & #6 for a sample collected on 5/6/25. Lithium was also detected at 9.8 ug/L at EP-C for Well #8 for sample collected on the same date. These results exceed the PFOS MCL, however compliance will be based on a running annual average (RAA). If compliance monitoring beginning April 2027 shows the RAA exceeds the MCL, the system will need to take corrective action to comply with the MCLs by April 2029. A letter was mailed and emailed to the water system on 7/14/25 which included information on how the results compare to the new PFAS MCLs, requirements to notify customers of availability of UCMR5 results and report detections in the annual consumer confidence report, and information on lithium and Emerging Contaminant funding available to address PFAS. Milton-Freewater has previously monitored for PFAS prior to UCMR5 as part of the first OHA PFAS sampling project and is currently engaged with the EC funding process to address PFAS. |
