Details: | Received an email from a water customer concerned about sewage like smell from the drinking water and concerns that nearby sewer lines were not repaired properly earlier this year after a leak. She also said some water testing was done at her home by the water system but she never got the results. I reached out to Bob and explained the complaint and got the results from the previous testing. I send the following information to the complainant via email on 8/14/25: I have requested that the water system take a coliform bacteria sample at your location. This will let us know if there is any contamination from the nearby sewer lines. I got the sample result information from the water operator. The water is high for iron and manganese. Iron was at 0.351 mg/L and manganese at 0.219 mg/L. These levels aren’t considered a health risk, but they are high enough to cause the water to taste & smell bad, cause staining of fixtures and create dark particulates in the water. I have attached additional information about iron and manganese in groundwater. Bob had coliform samples collected and sent the following information and I forwarded it along to the complainant on 8/22/25: We had Sippel Well Drilling and pump company take 3 total coliform samples at the concerned residents home on Monday from 3 locations. All came back "Absent". We also, had Roto-Rooter come back out and check the sewer line again, and it was still open and had no cracks or breaks. So no leaks there. The sewer line had been serviced back in late March or early April after the issue was discovered. Any other questions, feel free to contact me. |
