Details: | Complaint forwarded to me from OSHA and Kari from DWP. Complainant stated that staff was not notified of potential contamination following a water line break in November 2018. This was following a boil water alert for line break and loss of pressure in February. The complaint also stated that proper disinfection procedures were not followed and that system often chlorinates prior to taking routine coliform samples in distribution. I called the complainant on 3/27 and discussed required public notice and routine sampling and will continue to follow up on the chlorination complaint. The loss of pressure public notice has not been properly followed by many systems until recently as they become aware of the requirement. I have spoken with the system regarding this and the BMP was followed property during the most recent line break. I will also talk to system and ensure they do not chlorinate prior to routine coliform sampling as this could mask any bacteriological problems that may exist. System is due for a routine water system survey this summer. |
