Details: | On September 30, 2025, I received an email from Chad McMurry informing me that the Grand Ronde Community Water System has retained MacKay Sposito, and engineering firm (with other specialists) as their engineer-of-record who has been tasked with proceeding on a UV treatment system design (leaning towards a self-cleaning screen ahead of UV). I provided information on NSF-55 Class A UV systems as a method to address the persistent coliform positive samples (E.coli absent), which was approved as on option for Grand Ronde in an email sent on 10-24-24. I indicated that the UV would be considered a modification to plans submitted under plan ID 109-2024 without an additional fee but would require that as-builts be submitted and that the conditions in the conditional approval letter dated 8-5-25 available on our website at: https://yourwater.oregon.gov/planreview.php?pwsno=00338 still needed to be addressed, including land use approval from Polk County for the treatment building (currently pending approval) as applicable to the new design. I requested an updated schematic and specifics on the make/model of UV to be installed and explained that additional conditions may apply. I requested NSF-55 Class A certification for the UV, NSF-61 for other components, and NSF-60 certification for any chemicals (e.g., sodium hypochlorite) that may be used in the final design. I also specified that NSF-55 Class A could be used to address coliform in the source, but that additional treatment may be needed depending upon future detections of coliform bacteria in the distribution system (e.g.., chlorine for residual maintenance). I also requested an updated estimated project completion date for the current compliance schedule online at: https://yourwater.oregon.gov/enforce.php?pwsno=00338. |
