Details: | Kevin Fear emailed OHA tech staff regarding a power outage that stopped pressure pumps and dropped pressure below 20 psi at one of the elevated pressure zones for Starlight Village. The details are included below. "At about 12:45pm all of Philomath was affected by a large power outage. The City had 3 employees available to respond to the outage. We immediately began shutting off services to homes who are in the 0-25 psi range during a pump failure or power outage. Door hangers were hung on doors where employees got no answer and homeowners who were home were notified both by door hanger and by a City employee explaining the situation and to boil water until further notice. Power was restored to the pump-station about 45 minutes later at about 1:30 pm, and flushing began. Flushing lasted approximately 30-40 minutes. A chlorine residual of .72 was obtained from 470 Melville Crescent and a residual of .68 was obtained from 515 Fawn Lane, the ends of the two mainline runs in Starlight Village. A special coliform sample was taken at the end of each line (Melville Crescent and Fawn Lane) and taken to the lab. Services were turned back on to the affected homes for owners to utilize for sanitary and boiling for consumption. The samples were delivered to the lab at about 3:00 pm Thursday March 28th. On Friday March 29th at about 1:00pm, the lab confirmed by phone that the results were negative for coliforms and E.coli. Employees went door to door and notified the affected homeowners that the boil water notice is lifted and the water can again be consumed without boiling." |
