| Details: | On 10-7-25 I received OERS Report 2025-2557 regarding a citizen caller who reported an old fuel tank that washed into the South Umpqua River. The citizen reported that an old fuel tank ended up in the river during the flooding in February 2025. There is no rainbow sheen currently around the tank in the river. Caller is concerned that the tank should be removed. Caller does not know which property the tank came from during the flooding. Caller described it as a very large tank. Caller described the tank's location as being in the rapids next to the On The River RV Park at 111 Whitson Lane in Myrtle Creek (Douglas Co). I notified the following 4 water systems all within roughly 8 river miles downstream of the tank located at 111 Whitson Lane with intakes along the S. Umpqua River. 1. On the River RV Park (94929) – GWUDI well closest to the tank location and affiliated with the original person that reported the tank to OERS. 2. Roseburg Forest Products – Dillard (94300) – 1st downstream SW intake off the S. Umpqua River 3. Winston-Dillard Water District (00957) - 2nd downstream SW intake off the S. Umpqua River 4. Green Area Water and Sanitary Authority (00717) – 3rd downstream SW intake off the S. Umpqua River I also notified Julie Harvey with DEQ (source water protection) and forwarded the correspondence to Cassandra Lundy (also with DEQ) and Zach Cunningham-Golik with OHA-Drinking Water Services. |
