| Assistance Type: | OTHER WATER QUALITY - UCMR5 PFAS detections | ||
| Reasons: | Other |
||
| Details: | PFAS sampling conducted as part of the fifth round of the Unregulated Contaminant Monitoring Rule (UCMR5) showed PFOA at 4.1 ppt, PFHxA at 12.4 ppt, PFHpA at 7.1 ppt, PFBA at 10.5 ppt, and PFPeA at 18.6 ppt at entry point D (EP-D) for SP/Maia Wellfield for a sample collected on 6/25/25. These results exceed the PFOA MCL, however compliance will be based on a running annual average (RAA). If compliance monitoring beginning April 2027 shows the RAA exceeds the MCLs, the system will need to take corrective action to comply with the MCLs by April 2029. A letter was mailed and emailed to the water system on 8/25/25 which included information on how the results compare to the new PFAS MCLs, requirements to notify customers of availability of UCMR5 results and report detections in the annual consumer confidence report, and information on Emerging Contaminant funding available to address PFAS. SUB has proactively monitored for PFAS prior to UCMR5 and is currently engaged with the EC funding process to address PFAS. | ||
