Hi Lura,

Please confirm receipt of this message. If I don't hear from you by early Monday 5/20, I'll look to make another contact @ BLM.

May 15 sample result showed the presence of total coliform:
A. As soon as practical collect 3 repeat samples and 1 source sample
B. within 30 days (~june 15) complete & return to me the attached document "Level 1 Investigation"
C. If any of the 4 sample results (from A) show the presence of coliform PLEASE call me to talk about any logical corrective measures (Ideally if there is a systemic problem, corrections should be made prior to "D" occurring.)
D. In the month of June 3 temporary routine samples are due

Hi Rick, we have detected a pattern over the last several years that the only positive tests for total coliforms have always been from this drinking fountain (with only one exception). This is a frost free drinking fountain, meaning that the water drains back down into the base of the fountain shaft to prevent it from freezing. I'm suspecting that this is possibly a cause of our bad samples...? Either way, this was the last straw and the foundation is now currently turned off at the valve box, it will remain so until it is replaced or simply removed. That is the only public drinking receptacle on site although we do have two hose bibs on the interpretive center. We will temporarily change that sample point to the kitchen sink in the interpretive center but please understand that there is no public access. I have been in contact with Peter Cooley of Coos County and will plan on contacting you as well on Monday. Thank you
