| Details: | Brett called the Portland phone duty number to seek guidance. The situation explained was that a water utility employee discovered a contractor who was attempting to pressure test a newly installed (not yet in use) sewer line. The contractor had connected the new line to a hydrant via a fire hose that was not equipped with a a backflow prevention device. Details could not be collected about how far into the pressure test the procedure had gone, but the utility employee confiscated the fire hose from the contractor and reported the situation to Brett. The water system was advised to flush the hydrant and to the best ability possible flush any surrounding hydrants/faucets in the area, monitor and maintain the chlorine residual, and collect special coliform samples. | ||
