Details: | I reached out to Hubbard 76 regarding Alert COLI17807. The first temporary routine taken in May was total coliform positive (TC+). After conferring with drinking water services it was decided that the firm should proceed with a smodified Total Coliform Testing Schedule. I notified the system that they are required to take a Triggered Source Sample in response to the May TC+ Temporary Routine . Additionally they are required to take two more Temporary Routines in May, as a result of the confirmed TC+ in April. The operator stated during the call that after their Level 1 investigation in April, they attempted to shock chlorinate the well using procedures the operator had learned in a recent water system operator course. A recent visit from the systems contracted will service company highlighted that the type of chlorine used to shock the well was much weaker in concentration than the calculations the system used. This would lead to an inadequate dose of chlorine being delivered to the well and distribution system and could be the reason the system is still testing positive for total coliform. |
