Details: | The BLM Rogue River facility is only available to seasonal staff, which is not enough people to meet the public water system definition. However, the BLM internal policy is to treat these water systems as public. Tsering, a regional engineer for BLM in Portland, contacted me to verify what the monitoring requirements would be if the Rogue River Ranch was regulated as a public system. The answer includes: coliform monitoring (monthly for seasonal systems), annual nitrate, and the parameters for daily surface water treatment. I showed her online the monthly SWTR for cartridge filters, informed her that they would need to meet the 1.0-log standard for disinfection with the Rosedale cartridge unit. The 5/3/2012 plan review (#53-2012) conditional approval letter estimates that their 150 of contact pipe would provide 43 minutes of contact time because the flow is restricted to 9 gpm. The turbidity would need to be measured a minimum of once per day when running. I scanned and sent her that PR approval letter plus some supporting sketches submitted by the BLM (Miriam Liberatore) for the plan review at that time. |
