Details: | Spoke with Caitlin today to follow up after the Level 2 investigation done on the system and receiving a letter from the system proposing 3 options instead of installing disinfection which was required after the system had 2 positive coliform samples during routine testing this year. The proposed corrections were as noted as: 1. increased schedule of flushing the distribution system, 2. one of the two users of the system Design LLC plans to hook up to the municipal water system, and 3. seeking a one time shock chlorination and flush event which would be contingent on getting an agreement from the primary water user Hydro Extrusion USA to shut down for 24 hours to complete. Two of the three proposed corrections are not dated and are not definite to when they might occur. Taking this into account, after completing the level 2 investigation it appeared that the water from the main well (well 1) supplies water in the system that is connected with two other wells (3+4) that are not being used and are not maintained due to the constrictions of requiring an agreement between the two LLCs to cut off water to perform maintenance. If flushing is the main remedy to this problem, my suggestion was to cut off redundant unused pieces of the water system to strengthen the pressure and make the flushing more effective. Otherwise the system will flush as described in their corrective actions as semi-monthly. The extension of the requirement to install disinfection to the system will be 6 months/January. |
