Details: | The City is experiencing high levels of DBPs in the distribution system and would like some assistance tracking down what the issue could be. Dan made a field visit to assess the system and to speak to the operator. It was decided that a round of special tests in several locations could help confirm the likely source of the DBPs. Konrad provided test results from Edge Analytical confirming that the source of the elevated DBPs was the water coming from the City of Dayton. It is recommended that the City of Lafayette work with the City of Dayton to alleviate the DBP issue. Immediately after the reservoir in Dayton, DBPs also tested at an elevated level, so this issue is not unique to the City of Lafayette. Our recommendation is that the City of Dayton should look into reducing their DBPs by possibly decreasing contact time in their reservoir, lowering their chlorine injection rate/concentration, or both. There may also be other options available if decreasing contact time and/or chlorination is not viable due to disinfection requirements. The circuit rider would be happy to assist the City of Dayton if need be. |
