Details: | I stopped by Food Services of America to view the results of their interconnect with the City of Woodburn for their drinking water purposes and their disconnect of well water from the distribution system. It appears there may be an unprotected cross connection between the well and distribution system. There is plumbing that would allow the well to still feed the distribution system if the city water were turned off or the well pump overpressured the city water. Both sources of water are plumbed to the cooling tower. The cooling tower has a reduced pressured zone backflow preventer, but it is after the cross connection between the city water and well water. At this time there are two valves preventing well water from pushing towards the distribution system. Both are closed. One has its handle removed and the other is lock out/tag out. Well water is not entering the distribution system currently. I am working with Drinking Water Services and the firm to:
I suspect that a check valve of some sort will be necessary to prevent well water from traveling into the distribution system. |
