Details: | Spoke with Chance about water complaint from Sunday, September 1st. There was a dramatic reduction in water pressure in the afternoon at the Camp Tamarack kitchen (likely the first user). The cistern/clearwell was likely drained from overuse over the weekend. Onsite staff did not know how to correctly solve the problem. There is one “Pre-filter” & one “Final filter” plumbed in series. The final filter was removed for roughly 1 hour while the water treatment plant was in operation. Both filters were replaced. (The pre-filter appeared quite brown and dirty, and could have reached terminal head loss.) The staff person was instructed never to operate the water treatment system without both filters in place. Flowmeter on the pressure sand roughing filter measured ~45 gpm. The water was never off, but flowed slowly for several hours in the afternoon until late evening. Roughly 5pm to 11pm. It is assumed the clearwell slowly filled during this time. As stated online, the bag filters have a max differential pressure of 15 psi, and a max flowrate of 15 gpm. The pressure gauges on the filters were difficult to interpret at the time, but paperwork onsite indicated the pre-filter was at 12 psid, and ready to be replaced. The small clearwell was observed afterward and sounded like it was filling. It sounded like it was mostly empty. CT calculations and plumbing needs to be re-evaluated. Emailed owner about water concerns. Asked for a review of the situation and identify corrective action steps. Follow-up with owner on how situation was resolved. |
