| Details: | Alkalinity and pH measurements are being collected from the distribution system during Salem's round of lead and copper tap sampling 6/1 to 9/30/19 to demonstrate compliance with the minimum distribution alkalinity and pH levels that have been set by DWS. Salem reported two pH samples collected from the distribution system in August 2019 were under the required minimum of 7.2 (excursions). With rounding, one of those pH samples (7.17) was actually ok and not an excursion, therefore only 1 pH excursion occurred in August (Salem notified 9/9). There are currently 4 excursions during this 6-month period. Salem is aware that no more than 9 excursions are allowed within a 6-month period, otherwise a violation occurs and lead and copper tap sampling must return to the standard number of sites for two 6-month rounds. | ||
