Details: | ""Hey Peter, I wanted to follow up with you after your question the other week about your distribution system. I wanted to make sure I was going to give you the correct information, so I forwarded your question to my contact at the state for some guidance. Her answer follows below. On a side note, its concerning to hear that the water coming from the emergency use station is regularly getting positive hits for E.coli. As E.coli is a specific indicator of fecal contamination, I want to stress how much you would not want to use that water to flush out your eye at an eye wash station as it could be a cause of conjunctivitis (Inflammation or infection of the outer membrane of the eyeball and the inner eyelid). I hope I have answered some of your concerns, but I would be available to speak further if you would like. Hi Nicole, If I understand Mr. Ceton’s email, Well 3 serves water to the upper distribution facilities. He notes Well 3 has issues, plus it sends water to poorly sealed grain elevator reservoirs and distribution facilities which could be the source of E. coli at the eyewash and shower stations. I think the upgrades his is proposing will require plan review since it involves installing new distribution piping from Well 5 to a new building and tie-in with existing distribution for the eyewash and showers facilities. Well 3, the elevator reservoirs and distribution area Well 3 serves are described as non-potable, so the water supplier will want to verify Well 3 and the associated infrastructure are physically separated from the drinking water system. Let me know what you think or if we should talk further. If this is plan review related, you can refer Mr. Ceton to the distribution system improvements instructions and fee matrix on the DWS plan review page. If he has plan review questions, he should contact our regional engineer Carrie Gentry at 971-673- 0191 or email Carrie.L.GENTRY@dhsoha.state.or.us. Here is a link to the DWS plan review page""" |
