Details: | A manganese result of 0.425 mg/L collected 8/1/13 was recently entered for this system as part of a project to review available manganese data from public water systems with the goal of comparing to EPAs health advisory levels (HALs). HALs are non-regulatory, non-enforceable concentrations in drinking water at or below which health effects are not anticipated to occur over a specific duration. EPAs lifetime HAL for all persons and 10-day HAL for bottle fed infants is 0.3 mg/L. This system installed arsenic removal after the date of this sample. The arsenic treatment is likely removing some amount of manganese as well. This system, along with other systems identified during the project, will be notified by OHA-DWS of the manganese HAL and asked to sample their finished water for manganese in order to determine if levels are below the HAL. Update 10/4/21: manganese results were received 10/1/21 for a sample collected 3/22/21; results are below the health advisory level at 0.642 mg/L. Recommended PWS conduct periodic Mn monitoring to ensure levels are below the HAL. |
