| Details: | I received a call from Derrick about a chlorine analyzer malfunction resulting in chlorine residual over 4 mg/L at Well 9 (EP-F) this past weekend. False analyzer readings increased chlorine at the injector pump. The problem recognized on Friday and corrected by Saturday lasted less than 24 hours. Chlorine residual have since dropped to 2 mg/L. Distribution waterlines continue to be flushed to lower chlorine residual to 1 mg/L. Chlorine alarms and triggers that failed are being evaluated. Derrick noted a few customer notified the city about the issue. Chlorine residuals measured with routine coliform distribution samples determines MRDL compliance. September 1st monitoring period shows an annual average of 0.9 mg/L which is below the MCL of 4.0 mg/L for chlorine. No further action needed. |
