Details: | I received a call from Oregon DEQ about a vehicle that crashed 10-30-19 just upstream of the intake for the Beaver Water District. The vehicle had been removed, however, there was a small sheen on the water after removal. It was believed that oil and gas substantially remained in the vehicle. OERS Incident Number: 2019-2829 indicated that the car was about 100-yards away from the intake for the Beaver Water District and that sgt Gordon, Mathew (503-884-2308) was on scene. Troy Trute had spoken to Dave Emme (DWS Program Manager) earlier in the morning and I called Troy to get an update and see if they needed anything. Troy provided the location of the crash and confirmed my findings that no other water system intakes would have been impacted. Troy reported that the car left Hwy 101 traveling South directly across from the driveway for a house at 23505 Hwy 101 in Beaver. The car crashed into Beaver Creek at approximately 1:40 A.M on 10-30-19 and was removed at 4:30 A.M the same day by the towing company. Upon inspection of the crash site and the inlet for the water treatment plant no chemicals or pollutants were found in the water or on the creek bank. The District was not treating water at the time and the plant remained off until the following day (10-31-19). |
