| Details: | The water system has a history of coliform and now E. coli bacteria hits during testing. The State has expressed the need for the system to either drill a new well or to chlorinate the existing well. Dan Vaage visited View Point on 01/25/2018 to survey the system and to come up with a solution for chlorination of the existing system. The flow rate of the existing well pump is 160 gpm, the unbaffled cistern is approximately 20,000 gallons at it’s low point, the park uses approximately 14,000 gallons per day. The well log shows a well water temperature of 65 degrees Fahrenheit, or 18 degrees Celsius. Using the above data a 12 minute contact time is estimated for the cistern. If a concentration of 0.5 mg/L is used, the park should reach a CT of 6, well above the required CT of 4 per the OHA guidelines. We are suggesting that chlorine be injected into the effulent side of the well pump in the pump house. Please see the attached specifications for the suggested appropriate equipment to complete installation of a functional disinfection system for the park. | ||
