Details: | SUMMARY: Main Leak Drained Contact Tank - Boil Notice DETAILS: David Jacobs left a voicemail for Pete at 9:40 pm Tuesday night (12.20.05) regarding an empty contact basin reservoir due to a leaking main. (He said he couldnt find the Emergency Number he should call - presumably the OERS #). He was still searching for the leaking main. He prepared a Boil Water Notice. I left a few voicemails for David Wednesday morning. David must do the following: 1. Notify every person (375 connections). Boil until they hear from David Jacob again. 2. David must fix or isolate the leak. 3. Chlorinate (considerably) & flush system 4. Collect bacti samples (marked Specials) & residual samples throughout the system until bactis are clean and residuals are high. 5. Ask this Dept. whether he can lift the boil water notice. 6. Once receiving approval, re-notify everyone in the same method (in person or calling) to tell them the boil notice is lifted. Davids wife, Becky, called at 9 am 12-21-05 to inform Pete how the public notice is progressing. Pete told her to make sure she tries to individually contact every member of the community by phone, in person or with a Boil Notice in their mailbox (not sent through the mail). She said there was a leak at 4 am and then again at 4 pm as the ground thawed Tuesday. Becky said the leaks have been isolated, and they are working on pressurizing the system. ACTION NEEDED: Keep in touch with David over the next few days to help guide him through the process. He needs to have the OERS number written at the plant and at home - not just on his phone. He also needs an ERP. Perhaps he also needs a high flow alarm. |
