Details: SUMMARY: Auto Plant Shutdown Reduced Water Supply DETAILS: Chlorine analyzer failed at 10 pm Monday night, triggering the alarm. The automatic alarm
successfully shut down the plant, but failed to notify operators of the shutdown. Operators
did not become aware of the plant shutdown until ~9 am Tuesday morning. At that time
Jason sent operators to test the high points and extremities of the distribution system to
ascertain that the minimum water pressure was ~25 psi (above the required 20 psi). Jason
then implemented the Water Conservation Plan of the city. Since the 3 schools in town are
the biggest users of water, part of the Plan is to close the 3 schools. Schools had a
half-day Tuesday.

The plant should have no problem producing water to restore the
reservoirs to normal levels to maintain their normal water pressure, ~75 psi.
Amity still
had about 180,000 gallons in the reservoir at their lowest water level. ACTION NEEDED: None.

The Circuit Rider, Rob Henry, came out Tuesday to help isolate the problem at
the PLC-programming. A PLC specialist is scheduled to come out the next day,
Wednesday, to address the alarm failure.
