Details: SUMMARY: Dayton sewage lagoons about to fail DETAILS: Dennis Nelson heard from his wife that the City of Daytons sewage lagoons are about to fail, millions of gallons. I called OERS to find out what was going on. Margaret said she left a vm for Matt at Yamhill county, but hadnt called DWP. Heavy rains have caused one lagoon to overflow into the other, and for the second one, "failure is imminent". The sewage would flow into the Yamhill River, which flows into the Willamette River. Local schools have been evacuated and there are road closures in the area as a precaution (possibly residential evacuations as well, she was unsure). OERS incident # 2006-0444. On site contact person Raghu Namburi, DEQ. Howard Hamilton at Newberg and Jeff Baumann at Wilsonville have been notified (both think they can handle it just fine).
