| Details: | SUMMARY: 8th and Front well rehab/high nitrates DETAILS: The 8th and Front well nitrate sample history indicates high levels with some over the MCL. The well has been off line since Oct 2005 when two averaged samples exceeded the MCL. The well has a shallow cement seal to 30 ft. The hydrogeologic unit study done by Dennis nelson indicates a clay layer at the 60 ft depth which could act as a restrictive confining layer for the underlying acquifer. DWP recommends that the city explore re sealing the well to 5 ft into the clay layer to seal out the upper zones of potential contaminants. The city will contact Christensen Well drilling to evaluate the well and determine if re sealing is a viable option. The well can not be activated for domestic use until this issue is resolved. ACTION NEEDED: Get response from city on well rehab. | ||
