| Details: | SUMMARY: Boil Water Notice after positive total coliform and e. coli repeat samples 6/29. DETAILS: I received an initial alert on 6/29/06 for a positive total coliform routine sample collected 6/27/06. I left a message with Helen Deese to have the required 4 repeat samples collected asap. On 7/3/06 in the morning, Bob Walen called to report that one out of the four repeat samples was positive for total coliform (no e. coli). We discussed public notice within 30 days, shock chlorination procedures and the required 5 routine samples for July. Bob thought the problem may be that one of the sampling sites he used was a vacant house. Later in the afternoon, I received an alert that showed two of the four repeats were positive for total coliform, one of which was also positive for e. coli. I could not reach Bob Walen, so I spoke with Helen Deese. I emailed to Helen the e. coli public notice and fact sheet on coliform with shock chlorination instructions. We discussed thoroughly flushing the system to assure the chlorine is out prior to collecting another coliform sample. If the results of the coliform sample after shock chlorination and flushing are absent, she can notify residents they no longer need to boil the water. ACTION NEEDED: Await copy of public notice and communication from the system about corrective actions taken and additional sample results. | ||
