Details: | SUMMARY: 5 total coliform positive routine samples DETAILS: I received an alert for 5 positive total coliform routine samples taken on 7/26/06. I talked with Jack Chase on 8/3/06. He said that they had a greywater line from the clubhouse that had a leak. Jack said the greywater line only runs 1 foot away from the water line, but the water line doesnt appear to have leaks, so he thinks maybe the greywater traveled to the wells. After the leak was repaired, they took 5 special samples on 8/1/06 and they all came back positive for total coliform, but the operators had not shocked/flushed the system. I advised them to shock/flush the system (both wells) using the procedure I mailed them in June or by hiring a well driller. I told them to wait a week after flushing before they take another sample to make sure the chlorine is gone, or to purchase a DPD-type chlorine test kit to verify the absence of chlorine if they want to take the samples sooner. I told them to take 5 routine samples during the month of August. I told them to keep the public notice posted until the problem is resolved and to mail me a copy. I asked them to call me with the results of the routine samples. ACTION NEEDED: Await results of the 2nd round of 5 routine samples. |
