Details: | SUMMARY: Suspected tampering at water storage tank. DETAILS: The water system suspected tampering and the potential that contamination of the 70,000 gallon concrete storage tank had occurred. The reason for this suspicion was that the reservoir fence had been cut, the alarm loudspeaker torn down, and the screened vent was laying on the ground. The water system had contacted the Deschutes County Sheriff to investigate and considered issuing a "Do Not Drink the Water" notice. I advised them to wait for the results of the Sheriff Department investigation. The investigation indicated that a nearby homeowner had been disturbed by the alarm and had deactivated it, and the screened vent had simply fallen off. Teresa Mirales at Umpqua Lab in Bend stayed late and received 3 coliform samples from the water system. ACTION NEEDED: All 3 Special coliform samples were negative. |
