Details: | SUMMARY: Well pump failed, system running out of water. DETAILS: The well pump failed and the city notified customers to conserve water. At 4:30 PM the 300,000 gallon reservoir was half full, and Dan Marshall along with others were running PVC pipe from the Cemetery irrigation well to the reservoir about 100 yards away. Cacium hyporchlorite powder was placed in the piping to disinfect it, and 1 pound of powder was place in the reservoir. A coliform sample was also taken at the irrigation well head. The irrigation well was pumping about 75-100 gpm into the reservoir, limited only by the size of the pipe. Five Routine coliform samples had been taken on 8/02 and all were negative. The well pump was expected to be replaced by Friday evening, 8/04. ACTION NEEDED: A boil water warning was not issued because the system had not lost pressure, the 5 Routine coliform samples were negative, and the irrigation well water was disinfected in the reservoir. |
