Details: | SUMMARY: E.Coli positive DETAILS: I called Jack Chase on 8/11/06 to find out how their last shock chlorination went and he told me that their follow-up samples came out positive for E. Coli. He informed me that 3/4 of a cup of bleach was used in each well. However, given the depth and diameter of the wells, I told him that 3 cups of bleach should have been used per well. I told them to issue the E. Coli public notice for non-community systems and faxed them a template. They had turned off the wells and were preparing to provide bottled water. They are having a water company come out early this week to troubleshoot and assist them with shocking and flushing the system. Some possible causes of the E. Coli include a Grey-water line leak that has now been fixed or surface water influence from Fern Ridge reservoir. The system will receive a Ground Water Under the Direct Influence of Surface Water evaluation letter from the Springfield office. ACTION NEEDED: Await results of the water companys findings and follow-up samples. |
