| Details: | SUMMARY: Storage Tank Intrusion Alarm DETAILS: Doug Wise called on 8/28/06 to report that an intrusion alarm was activated at one of the College Hill Reservoirs over the weekend. I spoke with Mitch Postle today regarding the incident. A site inspection in response to the alarm showed that the locks on the reservoir were gone. EWEB staff immediately notified the police, isolated the tank and checked chlorine levels following the tank. A good chlorine residual was found leaving the tank in the distribution, however no chlorine was found in a grab sample at the top of the tank. In addition, coliform samples were absent following the tank, but were positive for total coliform only in grab samples from the top of the tank. Staff decided to begin draining the tank. It will remain isolated for the next few weeks while it is drained, inspected, cleaned, filled, disinfected and sampled. Staff will not put the tank back on-line until test results are acceptable.
