Details: | Groundwater system recently upgraded water storage capacity from a horizontal steel tank to three 10,000-gallon polyethylene tanks in an enclosed pole barn. Water system has both copper and DBP issues. Dan visited the site and talked at length with Eric both onsite and over phone/emails to determine the best course of action for the Jackson Creek Water Association. Due to the small size of the water system, the 30,000-gallon storage capacity is most likely excessive and is contributing to a much longer than necessary contact time. It is recommended that the operator run the tanks at a much lower volume in an effort to diminish contact time to diminish the time that DBPs are given to form in storage. The reservoirs should be run at a level that promotes proper “turnover” of the water. The copper issue was found on only one sample location. The resident who took the sample, took it from a rarely used outside spigot. It is recommended that the resident be trained on proper sampling technique prior to the next round of testing. Circuit Rider to support as needed in the future. |
