Details: SUMMARY: Ripening a 3rd Slow Sand Filter DETAILS: Greg called to verify how to evaluate when their new Slow Sand Filter is ready to use for public consumption.
I told them as soon as they get at least 2-log (99%) coliform removal in their raw vs. finished coliform counts, the water is ready to be disinfected and served to the campers.
They will take raw and finished turbidity tests and coliform counts today and next week to evaluate the new SSF removals.
Also, turbidities must be < 1 NTU 95% of the time, and < 5 NTU all the time.

Greg is in no rush for water since they have 2 existing slow sand filters producing water.
As a side note, they found that the pea gravel base allowed the existing SSFs to tilt, so they had to move the SSFs. ACTION NEEDED: None.
Could check back to see progress, or to pull our own samples for the Dept. as a verification/confirmation measure.
