Details: | SUMMARY: WTP Investigation and Funding Assistance DETAILS: Contacted by Board member Richard Crandall. They are experiencing water shortages and plant is at maximum capacity. They had prepared a letter of interest to attempt to obtain funding to construct a plant upgrade but did not rank high enough. Plant is only capable of producing 45 gpm to serve 150 people. If plant flows are increased, turbidity problems occur. Plant is also deteriorated and past its design life. Asked for assistance in evaluating what they need to do, how much it might cost, and for help in obtaining loan assistance thru the SDWLF. Actions Performed: Contacted Tedd Dykstra, plant operator. Discussed water quality including iron and manganese levels as well as plant problems and water demand. It is clear that the treatment equipment and steel tanks need to be replaced soon. They desire to install a small membrane treatment package sized for a least 100 gpm. Disinfection contact time will be inadequate with higher flows. Contact Pail Memcor and Westech to obtain equipment information and budget prices. ACTION NEEDED: Site visit schedule for October 4, 2006 to inspect facility, determine immediate needs and discuss how new equipment might be installed. Will summarize equipment needed, CT needs, and approximate budget costs. Will help prepare new Letter of Interest. |
