Details: SUMMARY: Request for review of SWA Report to help identify chronic coliform source DETAILS: Garrett requested via Karen Kelley that we review the Source Water Assessment materials for any well construction issues that might contribute to a chronic coliform problem in the water system. During the review it was determined that Well #3 has some construction related issues that might be a contributing factor but the aquifer itself could not be ruled out as a potential coliform source. I recommended to Garret that LVEC collect raw water samples in Well #3 and a nearby off-site well to determine if the aquifer can be ruled out as a source. If the aquifer is ruled out LVEC should consider having the wells video logged to determine if the casing seals are leaking or if there are fractures where shallow groundwater is seeping into the wells and/or there is a naturally occurring bacterial growth in the wells that can be cleaned. Also included recommendation that they keep the other wells owned by LVEC free of potential fecal coliform sources. See PWS file and SWA file for greater details. ACTION NEEDED: None at this time.
