| Details: | SUMMARY: Iron Removal Assistance DETAILS: Well water is pumped through a dual train, Culligan – greensand- pressure filter plant to facilitate removal of iron and manganese. Chemical addition of potassium permanganate is done prior to the filters to aid in their performance. Water is currently chlorinated following filtration and delivered to a 100,000 gallon reservoir for storage. In June the City switched filter media from greensand to MTM due to the limited greensand. Following the switch from greensand, the city is experiencing reduced rates for iron. City contacted Circuit Rider for assistance with this issue. ACTIONS PERFORMED: Visited treatment plant site. Met with City staff to review operations. Contacted Clack for operational recommendations for MTM Filter Media. Made recommendations for optimizing iron removal. ACTION NEEDED: Provide further assistance with filter optimization as required. | ||
