| Details: | SUMMARY: 4 positive total coliform repeat samples DETAILS: I received an alert for 4 positive total coliform repeat samples taken on 1/25/07. I spoke with Richard Lauer on 1/30/07 and he said that 2 samples were taken at the wellhead, 1 at the cottage (original location), and 1 at the laundry room. He wasnt sure why they came out positive, but he said he discovered that somehow the waterlines in the pumphouse that connect to the irrigation system were turned on. The lines are normally closed. Coffey labs is working with him to shock chlorinate the system. The well is a 12-deep dug well that is only 100 from the river. They havent had problems in the past. The system is currently closed while the owners are away and will be for a couple weeks. I mailed Richard the coliform health effects fact sheet, including how to disinfect a well, and a copy of unresolved total coliform notice. He will post the notice when he returns and knows to take 5 routine samples in February. ACTION NEEDED: Await results of the follow-up samples. | ||
