Details: | SUMMARY: 3 of 4 repeats taken 12/19/06 +TC DETAILS: Barbara called 12/21/06 and talked to Steve Dahl. She reported that they had disinfected the system. They are going to do 4 repeats next Tuesday 12/26/06. She mentioned that Always Pure is coming out to install a chlorinator and a softener. Steve told her they need Plan Review for the chlorinator. Steve and I conference called Jeff and asked him to do a source water coliform test and reminded him that plan review is needed for installing a chlorinator. We also told Jeff that it may be a bit premature to install a chlorinator-- a source water coliform test needs to be done in order to know if there is source contamination. He expressed frustration at the constant number of coliform positive tests and would like to install a chlorinator to solve the problem. We indicated that this might not be a permanent solution-- source water coliform contamination would require CT. ACTION NEEDED: Note: 4 repeats collected 12/26/06 were absent for coliform. Cl residual was 0.2 ppm at the time those samples were collected according to SDWIS which indicated that they have either installed a continuous chlorination system or there was residual chlorine in the system from when they disinfected after the initial 12/12/06 +TC result. Either way, they still need a source water coliform test and the system should be evaluated after that to determine in CT is required. I also have some concern that the well may be subject to influence from surface water due to its proximity to the river (GWUDI). |
